Jim Cesolini

James “Jim” Cesolini

Maricopa County Sheriff's Office

Congratulations to James “Jim” Cesolini, Deputy and EMCT-P with Maricopa County Sheriff 's Office, for being selected as the Central Arizona Region's 2023 EMCT of the Year. Jim has dedicated and risked his life for our health and safety. We are grateful for his selfless service, compassion, and answering this call of duty. If there was a paramedic superhero, it would be Jim.

The following is a partial summary of what Jim's nominator said about his EMS performance and accomplishments:

"Working for MCSO, Jim is in dual role as a deputy law enforcement officer and paramedic. As EMS Coordinator, Jim oversees and supervises 68 EMTs, and 9 paramedics. He also oversees 8 National Guard medics assigned to the Sheriff's Office to assist with medical calls for service. Jim has been instrumental in getting AEDs for all the patrol units in the Sheriff's Office. Jim also started the Office's Narcan Program for EMTs, which now includes Deputies, Detention, and civilian staff, totaling 1997 trained providers. Over Jim's extensive EMCT-P career, he has been involved with some harrowing rescues. He once spent the night in the Superstition Mountains with an unresponsive patient. Most recently, he was hoisted 276 feet from MCSO's Fox1 helicopter, into the Four Peaks area to care for a patient who fell 50 feet and sustained critical injuries. Additionally, Jim teaches Basic First Aid for the MCSO Law Enforcement Training Academy. He also teaches Post Academy Deputies Tactical Emergency Casualty care for LEOs. He has set the training and standards for the Deputies carrying TQs, hemostatic agents, and chest seals."
